Social Media and Depression

I have come to the conclusion that my depression comes from reading about all of the horrific events going on in the world on social media. Social media is one of my triggers for depression and I am one of the people that have all of the adverse reactions to anti depressants always listed in the literature so I can not take them. This post is to make the people that read it think of how much of a negative impact social media is having on their outlook on life and maybe decide to cut back. I set up this account to let people know I would help them if they asked. I am an Ordained Minister & Christian Counselor so every thing I hear is privileged as long as your not talking about committing a crime and I do not keep written records so people that wouldn’t normally choose to seek help due to their profession would be willing to see me. I have had great success with my clients and the fact that their information is safe has a major impact on their improvement. I have changed my practice in one way “those that can pay do and those that can’t don’t”. If you need someone to talk to please don’t put it off because it only make’s life more difficult for you and the people around you. I work primarily with homeless veterans suffering from PTSD and teenagers who are at the point of beginning to self medicate. I run a suicide hotline so if you feel like talking I am here. I won’t try to stop you but I will give you alternatives to try first. Remember suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and I  am living proof of that. If I had ended my life I would not have  been here to enjoy the last 9 years of my twin grandchildren’s life and I am the one supporting them. Call me first and maybe we can find another way. 843-730-8169 please remember this is my number and don’t call it unless you need it.
